On February 8, 2024, at around 8:00 PM, officers were dispatched to Baylor University Medical Center on Gaston Avenue in response to a report of a man being shot. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Jacob Austin Rodriquez, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained. At the time of the initial investigation, there was no information available regarding the suspect(s) involved in the incident.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner has listed the manner of death as a homicide.
