In June 24, 2022, 55-year-old Joe Sidney Williams was found with a gunshot wound in the 1800 block of N. 4th Street in Killeen. Despite efforts by officers who arrived at the scene around 2:50 a.m., Williams succumbed to his injuries.
Nearly two years later, on January 19, 2024, Demetris Tyrone Prier, a 38-year-old male, was charged with the murder of Joe Sidney Williams. The Criminal Investigation Division Robbery-Homicide Unit received a complaint, leading Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson to issue an arrest warrant for Prier. Currently incarcerated in Bell County Jail for unrelated charges, Prier was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Keith Reed, who set his bond at $500,000.
