In the morning of January 15, 2024, Irving Police Officers responded to a disturbance at an Irving home. Upon arrival, they found a domestic dispute leading to an assault. 38-year-old Karen Coreas and 20-year-old Nahomy Guadalupe Coreas, a 2023 Irving High School graduate, were both arrested and charged with domestic violence assault causing bodily injury.
Despite being a misdemeanor charge, Karen Coreas is now facing deportation. The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) has requested an immigration-ice hold. In Texas, a Class A misdemeanor can result in fines of up to $4,000, up to one year in jail, or both.
