In the morning of December 13, 2023, Irving Police Officers made an arrest at a residence in the 1700 block of Shumard Oak Ln in North Irving. After an investigation, the 53-year-old man was booked into the Irving Jail at 11:45 am on a state felony charge of having set up an invasive visual recorder. Since then, Irving Police has added eigth (8) third-degree felony charges of possession of child pornography.
A third-degree felony in the state of Texas carries stiff potential punishments upon conviction. Depending on the individual circumstances surrounding the case, a 3rd degree felony is punishable by a range of two to 10 years in prison, as well as up to a $10,000 fine for each charge.
In an unrelated case, 28-year-old Kevin Alberto Lopez-Ruiz was arrested in the afternoon of December 14th and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography. Lopez-Ruiz was booked into the Irving Jail at 2:40 pm and his bond was set at $50,000. INS has also requested an immigration-ICE hold on Lopez-Ruiz due to his illegal resident status in the country.
