On December 6, 2023, 40-year-old Carlos Ibarra-Yanez was booked into the Irving Jail at 4:40 pm. He faced an initial charge of sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony.
Additionally, a warrant from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) was pending against him. On the same day, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a hold request due to his illegal status in the country.

As of December 8, the Irving Police Department added two more charges against Ibarra-Yanez. These charges are both first-degree felonies: continuous sexual abuse of a child and aggravated sexual assault of a child.
