Domestic Disturbance in Killeen Leads to Double Fatality

On Friday, December 8, 2023, at approximately 1:34 p.m., Killeen Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 2300 block of Basalt Drive. Upon arrival, officers encountered a male leaving the residence, accompanied by sounds of distress emanating from inside.

The responding officers detained the male and entered the residence to discover two females who had sustained gunshot wounds. The officers initiated life-saving measures until paramedics arrived at the scene. Subsequently, one victim was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, and the second victim was rushed to Advent Health, both listed in critical condition.

Both females succumbed to their injuries. To respect the privacy of the victims and their families, their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities have disclosed that no additional information will be released at this time. However, they have assured the public that there is no immediate threat to their safety.

UPDATE: 

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division have identified the two victims as 75-year-old Deanne McGruder and 53-year-old Tina McGruder.

The suspect remains in custody pending formal charges from the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.
