In a recent study conducted by financial news website 24/7 Tempo, the Sherman-Denison metropolitan area has been identified as having the highest percentage of adults engaging in excessive drinking across the United States. The survey focused on men and women aged 18 and above, revealing that 21.1% of adults in Sherman-Denison reported heavy or binge-drinking.
According to 24/7 Tempo's data, the population of Sherman-Denison stands at 143,131, and the countywide driving deaths involving alcohol were reported at 23.6%.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) highlights that one in six American adults participates in excessive drinking on a single occasion. The CDC defines binge drinking as the consumption of five or more drinks on one occasion for men, and four or more drinks for women.
