On Monday, November 27th, 2023, at 10:40 pm, Mesquite Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger, later discovered to be stolen. The driver, an 18-year-old resident of Mesquite, attempted to evade officers, leading to a pursuit.
The pursuit ended tragically when the Charger exited Gross Road from North Bound IH 635, left the roadway, and collided with a traffic light pole at the intersection of Ridgeview Street and Gross Road.
The driver succumbed to the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The front passenger, a 17-year-old female, was identified and transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
