A dramatic incident unfolded earlier today as Grapevine Police responded to reports of an 18-wheeler on fire on Westbound SH-114 near the 121 to 114 flyover. The Grapevine Fire Department was quick to arrive on the scene and found the tractor fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters sprang into action, dousing the blaze and ensuring the safety of the area.
The driver of the truck had managed to escape the vehicle before the flames consumed it entirely. Paramedics attended to the driver.
TXDOT mobilized resources to address a small diesel fuel and oil spill caused by the fire, dispatching crews with sand to contain the spill.
Due to the hazardous materials involved, a specialized HAZMAT crew was summoned to the scene for the cleanup operation. Grapevine Police shut down the westbound lanes of SH-114 and diverting traffic onto WD Tate for safety.
Throughout the evening, dedicated responders worked diligently to clear the wreckage and clean the affected area. At 5:45 pm, police officials communicated that the highway closure could persist for an additional 6-12 hours, causing temporary disruptions for commuters. However, by 6:55 pm, the situation had been successfully managed, and the authorities were able to reopen the road for public use.
There were no reported injuries.
