IRVING, Texas - An early-morning encounter at a South Irving apartment complex led to a drug arrest and the discovery that the suspect was wanted on four felony warrants, including a federal warrant, according to Irving police.
The arrest happened around 1:53 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12th, at the Rock Island Apartments in the 2000 block of W. Rock Island Road.
Officers approached a parked vehicle occupied by three men and made what police described as a consensual contact. As an officer approached the driver's side, he saw 40-year-old Antonio Williams behind the wheel.
Police said a rolled-up dollar bill fashioned into a straw was visible on the center console. The officer recognized it as suspected drug paraphernalia commonly used to ingest cocaine.
Williams was ordered out of the vehicle. As he got out, the officer saw a clear cigarette carton wrapper containing suspected cocaine between the driver's seat and door, according to police.
Williams was arrested and booked into the Irving Jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, less than 1 gram.
A subsequent records check revealed Williams was also wanted on four felony warrants.
Police said two warrants were issued by the Dallas County Sheriff's Office for parole violations stemming from a previous drug conviction. Another warrant was issued by Richardson police.
The fourth was a federal warrant from the U.S. Marshals Service in a case involving dangerous drugs. Authorities did not provide additional information about the Richardson or federal cases.
