IRVING, Texas - A 36-year-old man was arrested Sunday after Irving Police say he attempted to stab his father-in-law with a large kitchen knife during a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex.
Irving Police officers responded Aug. 23 to an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Esters Road after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance involving a knife.
During the investigation, a man told officers that his son-in-law, identified as Brendon Wade Wallace, 36, grabbed a large serrated kitchen knife and approached him while holding the weapon.
The victim told police he believed Wallace was going to stab him and grabbed Wallace's hand in an attempt to prevent the knife from striking him.
Two women who witnessed the confrontation provided statements to investigators. According to the arrest information, both women reported seeing Wallace make two to three thrusting motions with the knife in an apparent attempt to stab the man.
Police recovered the knife at the scene.
Woman Says Wallace Slapped Her and Blocked Apartment Door
Investigators also learned of an alleged confrontation involving Wallace and a second victim earlier that morning.
The woman, who is the first victim's daughter, told officers Wallace had slapped her across the face.
She further alleged that Wallace prevented her from leaving the apartment by guarding the door for approximately five to 10 minutes, despite her attempts to leave and contact her parents.
Wallace was taken into custody and transported to the Irving Jail.
He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Family Violence and Unlawful Restraint.
