IRVING, Texas - An Irving woman is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after police say she assaulted her 79-year-old husband during a domestic dispute at a home in the city's Hospital District.
According to the Irving Police Department, officers responded around 7 p.m. on July 15 to the 1500 block of Betsy Lane after receiving a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance in progress.
The victim, a 79-year-old man, told responding officers that his wife, identified as 64-year-old Dana Ruth Wells, attacked him following an argument.
Police said Wells grabbed her husband's right arm, twisting it and scratching him, causing moderate-sized cuts that were bleeding.
Officers arrested Wells at the scene.
She has been charged with Injury to an Elderly Person with Intent to Cause Bodily Injury, a third-degree felony, and Assault Causing Bodily Injury – Family Violence, a misdemeanor.
Court records show Wells' bond was set at $1,000. However, as of July 23, she remained in custody at the Dallas County Jail because of a hold placed on her while the investigation continues.
