IRVING, Texas — A 28-year-old man was arrested after police say he assaulted two security guards outside an Irving hookah lounge after attempting to re-enter the business following closing time.
According to the Irving Police Department, officers responded at approximately 6:05 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, to Queens Hookah Lounge in the 1800 block of Valley View Lane, just south of Highway 183, following reports of an assault in progress.
Investigators determined that Samuel Mukeba-Bantu attempted to re-enter the business after it had closed and became confrontational with security personnel who refused him entry.
According to witness statements and victim accounts, Mukeba-Bantu struck one security guard in the face before punching a second security guard in the face with a closed fist, causing a laceration to the victim's upper lip.
Police said security personnel used pepper spray and a Taser to restrain Mukeba-Bantu until officers arrived.
Investigators noted that both security guards were clearly identifiable, wearing vests marked "Security Guard" on the front and back and carrying duty belts.
Based on witness statements, the victims' injuries, and the investigation, officers determined there was probable cause to believe Mukeba-Bantu intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly caused bodily injury to a licensed security officer while the officer was lawfully performing his duties.
Mukeba-Bantu was arrested and booked into the Irving Jail on a charge of Assault on a Security Guard.
