ALVARADO, Texas - A man with an active felony warrant was arrested Tuesday morning following a search and brief struggle in Alvarado, with a woman also taken into custody after allegedly attempting to help him evade police.
Officers with the Venus Police Department were dispatched around 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 3, 2026, to assist the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in locating a wanted subject in the 100 block of Woolard Drive. Authorities said the man was wanted on an active felony warrant issued by the McKinney Police Department for possession of child pornography.
Deputies were advised the suspect fled into a nearby field to avoid capture. Venus police patrol officers, detectives, and the Venus Fire Marshal responded to help establish a perimeter. After an extensive search, officers saw the suspect enter a vehicle driven by a woman.
Police stopped the vehicle, but the suspect ran from the scene on foot. Authorities said the driver ignored officers’ commands and fled in the vehicle. Officers later found the suspect hiding behind a nearby residence, where he was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
The female driver was later located, identified, and also arrested.
The male suspect was charged with evading arrest or detention and resisting arrest, search, or transportation, in addition to being booked on the outstanding felony warrant. The female was charged with evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle and hindering apprehension or prosecution. Both were transported to the Johnson County Jail.
The Venus Police Department thanked the Alvarado Police Department for assisting during the incident.
