Irving Operator Competes in Caterpillar's North American Regional Challenge

Andrew McElvain

Irving, Texas – Andrew McElvain of Lindamood, Inc. in Irving showcased his heavy equipment expertise today at Caterpillar’s Global Operator Challenge North American Regional, held at a Caterpillar facility in Clayton, North Carolina.

The competition tests the skills and precision of heavy equipment operators, evaluating their ability to safely and efficiently operate Cat machinery while using technology to maximize performance. McElvain operated four different pieces of equipment, with scoring based on skill, safety, efficiency, and technical competence.

“The Global Operator Challenge is a tribute to skilled professionals who build and maintain our nation’s infrastructure,” said Jason Hurdis, Caterpillar’s global industry solutions manager. “In an industry facing labor shortages and rapidly evolving technology, this challenge highlights the critical role of machine operators and the technical skills required for a career in the trades.”

Winners of the regional challenge will advance to the Global Operator Challenge Finals in Las Vegas this March.
