Man Arrested in Irving Following Welfare Check, Faces Additional Charges Including Escape From Custody

Marius Megale Stone

On February 16, 2024, at around 7:20 am, Irving Police responded to a welfare check request at an apartment on Northgate Dr. in North Irving. The check was initiated by a representative from Volunteers of America, responsible for ensuring individuals receiving federal aid comply with check-in procedures. The caller reported that 34-year-old Marius Megale Stone had failed to check in as required.

Upon arrival, the officer discovered that Stone had an outstanding theft warrant issued by the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. The officer located Stone in the apartment complex parking lot and instructed him to contact Volunteers of America to check-in. Additionally, Stone was informed about the warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody without incident.

While detained at the Irving Jail, Stone was placed under a detainer/hold by the U.S. Marshals for an escape from custody charge, stemming from legal issues in Jackson, Mississippi. On February 17th, Stone was transferred to the Dallas County Jail to face the pending charges.
