Irving Police Apprehend Registered Sex Offender in Indecent Exposure Case

On the night of January 9, 2024, Irving Police Officers responded to a reported case of indecent exposure. Acting on a provided description, the officers located the individual, later identified as 46-year-old Bobby Lee Sims of Dallas. Upon approach, Sims fled on foot, leading officers on a pursuit. Despite his attempt to evade arrest, the officers managed to apprehend him.

During the arrest, Sims resisted the officers' efforts, engaging in a physical struggle. Eventually, law enforcement successfully subdued him and proceeded to book him into the Irving Jail at 11:07 pm. The charges against Sims include indecent exposure, evading arrest detention, and resisting arrest – all categorized as misdemeanors.

Notably, Bobby Lee Sims has a history as a Registered Sex Offender, stemming from a conviction on January 21, 2011, for Indecency With A Child By Exposure. Following this conviction, he served a six-year prison sentence. Sims is currently listed as a High Risk Level on the Texas Public Sex Offender Website.

The ongoing investigation has not yet revealed whether Sims was experiencing a mental health situation or had substances in his system at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
