Drone Team Helps Officers Arrest Armed Suspect in North Richland Hills

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — A North Richland Hills Police Department drone team helped officers safely take an armed suspect into custody during an incident involving a reported person with a gun on Wednesday morning, June 10th.

According to the North Richland Hills Police Department, the Drone as First Responder (DFR) team provided aerial support to officers responding to a call near Rufe Snow Drive.

The drone supplied real-time overhead video to officers on the ground, allowing law enforcement to track the suspect's movements and improve officer safety throughout the incident. Dispatchers were also able to monitor the live video feed and relay critical information to responding units.

Police said the operation showcased strong cooperation between agencies, including assistance from the Watauga Police Department.

A 27-year-old Frisco man was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators recovered two firearms during the arrest.

The suspect was charged with Terroristic Threat of Family.

“This is an extraordinary display of cross-jurisdictional teamwork and officer safety using this aerial oversight,” the department said in a statement.

North Richland Hills police credited the DFR team and B-Shift patrol officers for their coordinated response and successful resolution of the incident.
