Edward Rothrock

IRVING, Texas — A 70-year-old Irving man was arrested after police said he assaulted his roommate during a domestic disturbance and prevented her from calling 911.

According to the Irving Police Department, officers responded during the early morning hours of May 6, 2026, to a residence in the 1000 block of Lindy Lane near South Nursery Road in South Irving.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a 57-year-old woman who said her roommate of approximately six months, identified as Edward Streicher Rothrock, had pushed her to the ground during an altercation.

Investigators said the woman suffered visible injuries, including a lump and abrasion to her head and left arm after falling.

The victim also told officers she attempted to call 911, but Rothrock grabbed the phone from her hand after she said she was contacting police.

According to police, the woman attempted to retrieve the phone, but Rothrock held her down and wrestled the device away before leaving the residence.

Officers documented the incident and completed a report.

Later that same morning, Rothrock contacted the Criminal Justice Center and admitted to taking the victim’s phone by wrestling it away from her as she attempted to get it back, according to investigators.

Police said Rothrock was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Irving Jail at approximately 7:58 a.m.

He was charged with Domestic Violence Causing Minor Bodily Injury, Robbery, and Interference with Emergency Request for Assistance. His bond was set at $7,500 and remain in-custody at the Dallas County Jail.
