A Mexican national with multiple prior violent felony convictions has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison after illegally reentering the United States, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.
Pedro Garcia Lopez, 45, was sentenced on Monday, February 2, 2026, to 57 months in federal prison after pleading guilty in September 2025 to illegally reentering the United States following his deportation in 2008.
Evidence presented at sentencing showed Garcia Lopez has a criminal history dating back to 2008, when he was convicted of burglary of a habitation. In the years that followed, he was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in both 2018 and 2025. He received three-year prison sentences for those offenses.
U.S. District Judge Sam Lindsay ordered Garcia Lopez’s state and federal sentences to run consecutively.
The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations. Special Assistant United States Attorney Marbel Leonel Munoz prosecuted the case.
