The City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture invites the public to a free celebration in honor of International Dance Day (IDD) on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from noon to 1 p.m. The event will take place in the Dallas City Hall Lobby, located at 1500 Marilla Street, Dallas, TX 75201.
International Dance Day is observed annually on the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, the founder of modern ballet, and serves as a global recognition of the art of dance and its cultural impact. The City of Dallas recognizes dance as a unifying force that connects people through movement, storytelling, and joy, transcending language and celebrating global traditions.
This year's commemoration will include complimentary food, dance performances showcasing styles from around the world, and a special tribute honoring the late Judith Jamison, the legendary American dancer, choreographer, and former Artistic Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
The program will feature remarks from City Leadership and City Council Members, as well as a debut performance by the City of Dallas Employee Dance Group, highlighting the creativity and talent of city staff. The event is free and open to the public.
