On Wednesday, the Fort Worth community celebrated the grand opening of Casa de los Sueños, a groundbreaking housing initiative aimed at supporting families with children who are experiencing homelessness. Located in the heart of the Las Vegas Trail neighborhood, the new development promises to be a beacon of hope for 55 families seeking stability and a fresh start.
Casa de los Sueños is more than just a housing project; it offers families access to essential services such as professional support, education, and healthcare, all designed to help them achieve long-term success and permanent housing. By providing these resources, the facility aims to end the cycle of homelessness and promote self-sufficiency among its residents.
As the first facility of its kind in Fort Worth, the conversion of a former hotel into a housing solution represents a significant milestone in the city's ongoing efforts to reduce family homelessness. It also plays a crucial role in revitalizing the Las Vegas Trail neighborhood, furthering the city's commitment to community improvement.
“Our investments in revitalizing Las Vegas Trail continue to pay off, with Casa de los Sueños as the latest success story,” said District 3 Councilmember Michael D. Crain. “This project not only helps families in need get back on their feet, but also turns this former blighted hotel property into a beautiful community asset.”
The project was made possible through a combination of public and private funding, including:
- Tarrant County ARPA funding: $8 million
- City of Fort Worth contributions: $2,578,000 (including $1.5 million from the Community Development Block Grant)
- Private capital contributions: $1,875,000, with significant support from Ojala Partners, Fort Worth Housing Solutions, and other charitable foundations.
Casa de los Sueños marks a new chapter for Fort Worth’s commitment to addressing homelessness and fostering a supportive, revitalized community.
