On May 7th, Detention Supervisor James Willis was awarded the prestigious title of Detention Supervisor of the Year, while Detention Officer Cortni Zuniga was honored as Detention Officer of the Year.

Chief Derick Miller expressed, "Well deserved & congratulations, you two!"

The commendations come as a testament to the exceptional service and care provided by IPD's jail staff, who consistently go above and beyond in their duties, ensuring the safety and well-being of both inmates and department personnel.

National Correctional Officer's Week holds particular significance, as it was established by former President Ronald Reagan in 1984. Reagan recognized the invaluable contributions of correctional officers to society and deemed it necessary to dedicate a week to express appreciation for their service.
