Suspect Commits Suicide After Police Stop in Killeen

Authorities from the Killeen Police Department, Copperas Cove Police Department, and Lampasas County Sheriff's Department are currently investigating a shooting incident in Killeen that resulted in one fatality. The incident occurred at around 2:48 p.m. in the 6300 block of Taree Loop. Upon arrival at the scene, Killeen Police officers discovered a male victim with gunshot wounds and no suspect present.

The suspect in the shooting dialed 9-1-1 to report the incident. Subsequently, Copperas Cove Police officers located the suspect's vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in Lampasas County. However, the suspect refused to exit the vehicle and ultimately sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It is confirmed that no law enforcement officers discharged their firearms during the incident.

The Lampasas County Sheriff's Department, along with the Texas Rangers, will be responsible for conducting the death investigation in Lampasas County. As of now, the investigation remains ongoing, and the identities of both the victim on Taree Loop and the suspect will not be disclosed until their next of kin have been notified.
