Matthew Edward Middleswart

IN MEMORY OF

Matthew Edward Middleswart

Matthew Edward Middleswart, age 65, of Irving, passed away on December 1, 2023.

Matt was born May 13, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Jack and Shirley (Torrey) Middleswart. He attended the University of Kansas with interest in Mechanical Engineering. The family, along with many friends lost a wonderful human being. His passions included coin and antique collecting, working on his antique Pontiacs, reading, metal detecting, watching football with his daughter, and gardening/yard work. Matt loved baking cookies for his family. He lived to make others happy. His sense of humor and love of life will be greatly missed.

Matt moved to Dallas, Texas at the age of 21 and worked in the construction field ever since. From 2008, Matt has been self-employed as a handyman, working on remodeling projects for kitchens and bathrooms, tile work, interior and exterior painting, decks, cabinetry work, as well as refinishing antique woodwork. After retirement, Matt continued to work on small projects for regular clients, as he felt he could never really leave his life’s passion, being a craftsman. His love of Pontiacs was evident as he was a member in the local Dallas Area Pontiac Association for several years. He also frequented the monthly Grapevine Coin Show and became a dealer for several shows.

Matthew always enjoyed helping others and always went above and beyond to make others feel happy and welcomed. He had a big heart for animals. He has rescued 6 dogs in his lifetime, and became very attached to his Doberman/Rottweiler Zoey. They were inseparable as he would take her to work with him for many years. His favorite place to travel was to Norwalk, Ohio where the annual Pontiac Nationals are held. He made the road trip for 3 years in a row, stopping in Nashville, TN— another city he was most fond of. His life was interrupted, but while he was on this Earth he embraced opportunities and the chance to experience life with open arms. His smile and gentle soul can never be replaced. Matthew was one of a kind.

Those who will miss him the most include his only daughter, Alison Middleswart - Valdez and her husband Royer, his granddaughter Xochitl Valdez, a host of close friends and in-laws, the Jacome and Valdez family.

He is reunited in Heaven with his dog Zoey and his ancestors.

A memorial service will be held to honor Matt’s life at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas on January 13, 2024 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Suicide & Crisis Center of North Texas, sccenter.org/donate.
