Dallas Man Found Guilty of Trafficking Fentanyl, Receives 30-Year Sentence

Richard Leal was found guilty of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Fentanyl, Greater Than or Equal to 4 Grams but Less Than 200 Grams in the State vs. Richard Leal case. Antoinette Wood led the prosecution with Michael Chang as second chair. The District Attorney's Investigative team included Alexander Lipsey, Eddie Lopez, and Bonita Morgan.

The investigation, conducted by the Dallas Police Department, began on February 18, 2023, when officers were searching for a wanted individual at an address where Leal was present. After Leal left the premises, covert officers trailed him and eventually stopped him for multiple traffic violations. During the stop, officers discovered a shoulder satchel in Leal's possession containing bags of cocaine, fentanyl pills, Alprazolam pills, methamphetamine pills, and marijuana. In a subsequent police interview, Leal discussed obtaining large quantities of pills and bricks for distribution.

Richard Leal was found guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
