An Abilene woman lost her life in a motorcycle accident just after midnight on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
The incident occurred when a Harley Davidson motorcycle, carrying both a rider and a passenger, was traveling north on South Leggett St in Abilene, Texas. The motorcycle veered off the roadway, resulting in the passenger being ejected from the vehicle.
The passenger, identified as 35-year-old Shanna Bowman of Abilene, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin notification has been completed.
The rider, 37-year-old Shannon Pruitt, sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities suspect that speed and alcohol were contributing factors to the accident. Neither the rider nor the passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
