Irving Police Focusing on DWI Enforcement During St Patrick Weekend

During the St. Patrick's Day holiday weekend, there is a higher likelihood of impaired drivers on the roadways causing an increased potential for alcohol-related crashes involving injuries or deaths.

To curtail drunken driving and help #EndTheStreak of daily deaths on Texas roadways, the Irving Police Department will take part in a DWI enforcement Initiative from March 17-19. During that time, the participating officers will concentrate their efforts on DWI patrols in high-risk sites and when impaired drivers are on the roadways causing an increased potential for alcohol-related crashes involving injuries or deaths. The high visibility and enforcement efforts should serve as a warning to those who would drive while impaired.

Irving police encourages people to "Plan While You Can" to avoid the consequences of impaired driving and asks motorists to consider using taxi or car services, designating a sober driver or taking public transportation as an alternative to driving after drinking.
