Irving Man Sentenced to Prison After Multiple Domestic Assault Charges and Escape Attempt

Waldemar Ramos-Negron

A 31-year-old man, Waldemar Ramos-Negron, has been sentenced to prison following a series of violent offenses in Irving and multiple convictions related to assault and resisting law enforcement.

Ramos-Negron was arrested by Irving Police on March 7, 2025, after officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a home at the 1000 block of Elwood Rd near the N. Nursery Rd intersection. Investigators determined he had assaulted his girlfriend, Estevana Martinez, and threatened her with a knife. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. As part of a plea deal, he pleaded guilty to the charge on May 1 and was sentenced to 30 days in the Dallas County Jail with no fine.

During the initial arrest, Ramos-Negron escaped custody from Officer Cody Roberts. He was captured after a foot chase and charged with Escape while Arrested; that charge was later dismissed by the Dallas County District Attorney.

While resisting arrest, Ramos-Negron bit Officer Weinschreider and injured him by grabbing and squeezing during the struggle. On May 3, Ramos-Negron pleaded guilty to Assault of a Public Servant and was sentenced to two years in prison with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).

The assault on Martinez involved Ramos-Negron headbutting her and forcing her against a door and wall, resulting in injuries. Due to a prior family violence conviction in Tarrant County in January 2024, he was additionally charged with Assault Family Member with Previous Conviction. He accepted a plea deal and received a two-year prison sentence on that charge.

Ramos-Negron has a documented history of violence against Martinez. In April 2022, a court issued an Emergency Protection Order to safeguard her from him. He violated that order in July 2022. He was indicted for the violation and found guilty in February 2023, receiving nine months of probation.

This case shows the outcome of several prior arrests and how charges were adjudicated by the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.
