Casey Hall, former District Attorney for the 97th Judicial District, was convicted and sentenced Wednesday, May 21, in Denton County for stealing public funds while in office, according to court documents.
A jury in the 362nd District Court in Denton County found Hall guilty of misapplication of fiduciary property and theft by a public servant. She was sentenced to one year in state jail for the misapplication charge and six years of probation for the theft offense. The court also imposed a financial assessment of approximately $9,457.
The charges stemmed from Hall's unauthorized transfer of between $2,500 and $30,000 of Montague County funds into her personal bank account. Hall was initially indicted in July 2024, with enhanced charges handed down by a grand jury on February 11, 2025. Her trial was moved to Denton County following a change of venue request.
Hall, who served two terms as DA for Montague, Clay, and Archer counties, voluntarily left office in August 2024 after her predecessor, Tim Cole, filed a petition to remove her.
