A tragic discovery was made on Sunday morning, March 23rd, when the body of an infant was recovered from the Trinity River following a vehicle crash the previous evening. Fort Worth police confirmed that the vehicle went into the river near the Trinity River Bridge at Beach Street and East Freeway shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Officers arrived at the scene and immediately rescued a woman from the water. She was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. While the infant was confirmed to have been inside the vehicle, emergency responders were unable to locate the child during the initial search.
On Sunday, just before noon, the infant's body was found in the river, thanks to the efforts of the fire department’s dive team and other assisting agencies. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and identify the victim. The identity of the woman rescued from the vehicle has not been released.
