On January 24, 2025, an Irving Police officer utilized the city's Flock Safety license plate reading system to apprehend 31-year-old Kevin Daniel Avalos, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Possession of Child Pornography.
The Flock system alerted the officer to a gold Toyota Avalon in the vicinity of S. Story Rd. and W. 11th St. matching the description of a vehicle associated with Avalos, who was wanted by the Euless Police Department.
The officer located the vehicle at the Shell gas station at 2392 W. Shady Gorve Rd. and conducted a traffic stop. Upon identifying Avalos, the officer confirmed the outstanding warrant and placed him under arrest.
A subsequent search of Avalos's vehicle yielded a Motorola cellphone, an LG cellphone, a blue charger, and an Airpod case, all of which were seized as evidence. The Irving Police officer communicated with the Euless Detective C. LaPenna. LaPenna requested that a hold be placed on Avalos and took custody of the seized items.
Avalos was transported to the Irving Jail and later transferred to the Dallas County Jail, and ultimately to the Tarrant County Jail, where he remains incarcerated on a $50,000 bond.
The Euless Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation into the child pornography charges.
