On Saturday, January 25, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Azle Police and Fire/EMS responded to a major accident on Highway 199 near Stewart Street. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that one person was trapped in a vehicle with severe damage. Firefighters quickly assessed the situation and determined that the driver had been killed in the crash.
Investigators believe that an eastbound vehicle crossed over the center median, colliding head-on with a westbound vehicle. The victim, identified as 67-year-old Jaime Ricardo Ruiz of Springtown, was traveling westbound with his wife when the crash occurred. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation by the Azle Police Department.
