On December 20, 2024, Garland Police received multiple reports of package thefts from porches at two homes in the area. The investigation quickly advanced with valuable information from the victims, which led detectives to identify the suspect as 37-year-old William Lloyd Scott of Mesquite.
Detectives were able to trace the vehicle used in the thefts and secured two warrants for Theft of Property with prior convictions. On January 8, 2025, Rowlett Police officers located Scott in the vehicle and arrested him in connection with the thefts.
The investigation is ongoing as detectives explore whether Scott may have been involved in additional package thefts in the area. Authorities praised the collaborative effort between the victims, Garland Detectives, and the Rowlett Police Department in capturing the suspect.
