Irving Woman Arrested for Assaulting Elderly Boyfriend, Faces Felony Charge

Judy Louis Hood

On Thursday, January 2, 2025, at approximately 2:43 PM, Irving Police officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Colony Drive, near Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, following reports of an assault in progress.

Officers arrived to find a domestic dispute that had escalated to an assault. As a result, 74-year-old Judy Louise Hood was arrested for allegedly assaulting her live-in boyfriend, 84-year-old Clyde Pittman. Hood is charged with Injury to an Elderly Person with Intent to Cause Bodily Injury, a third-degree felony.

Further investigation revealed that Hood had an outstanding warrant for a similar charge stemming from a 2023 case. Her total bond has been set at $3,000, and her mental health will be evaluated.

In the prior case, Irving Police determined that on August 26, 2023, Hood scratched Pittman during an argument, causing injuries. She pleaded guilty in November 2023 as part of a plea deal, reducing the charges to a Class A misdemeanor. Hood was sentenced to 90 days in the Dallas County Jail but served only 47 days before being released for unspecified reasons. The warrant issued was for her to serve the remainder of her sentence.

This is not the first incident involving Hood and Pittman. In December 2022, Hood was arrested for assaulting Pittman, but that case was dismissed.

Mr. Pittman, a widower since 2019, was married to Joyce Janita Howard Pittman, a former Irving City Council member in the 1970s. The case remains under investigation.
