Fort Worth Police Investigate Two New Year's Day Homicides

The Fort Worth Police Department Homicide Unit is investigating two separate homicides that occurred on January 1, 2025, marking the first two homicides of the year.

Incident 1: Domestic Dispute Turns Fatal
At approximately 7:00 a.m., East Division officers responded to a shooting call in the 8800 block of Sabinas Trail. Upon arrival, officers detained a female suspect exiting the residence and found a male victim inside with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

Emergency medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures but pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Investigators determined the victim and suspect, who were in the process of divorcing but still living together, had been involved in a verbal altercation. The suspect and a witness retreated to a locked bedroom, but the victim forcibly entered, prompting the suspect to shoot him.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
