Early on January 1, 2024, at approximately 3:10 a.m., The Colony Police and Fire/EMS responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 6900 block of Sumner Street.
A man was struck in the leg by a bullet that passed through the wall of an apartment while he was standing on a patio. He was transported to a Plano hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities determined the incident was caused by an accidental discharge of a firearm. The suspect, a 25-year-old male, was arrested and charged with one count of Deadly Conduct.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
