On Sunday, December 29, 2024, at approximately 1:12 p.m., Denton Police and Fire responded to a shooting call in the 200 block of Normal Street. A resident contacted 911 after finding an unresponsive male, later identified as 19-year-old Cody Stewart, lying on the ground.
A second resident was involved in a disturbance with Stewart, which led to the shooting. First responders attempted life-saving measures on Stewart, who had suffered a gunshot wound, before transporting him to Medical City Denton Hospital. Stewart was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
