Meran-Liriano, a homeless individual staying in the Irving area and an undocumented immigrant, was taken into custody by officers.
The suspect managed to steal a cell phone valued at $100, which was later recovered and returned to the victim. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Meran-Liriano faces one count of Aggravated Robbery and four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was booked into the Irving Jail before being transferred to the Dallas County Jail on December 20, where he remains held on a $400,000 bond.
An immigration hold was placed on Meran-Liriano by INS-DFW, and due to his undocumented status, he will remain incarcerated without the ability to post bail.
