In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 21, 2024, Irving Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a driver later identified as 21-year-old Jair Albavera of South Irving.
Albavera initially attempted to evade the officer, leading to a short pursuit before he was detained. A subsequent search of Albavera and his vehicle revealed illegal narcotics, two weapons, and that he was driving without a valid license.
Albavera, a convicted felon, was taken into custody and booked into the Irving Jail at 3:07 AM. His criminal history includes a guilty plea on June 6, 2023, to a charge of Manufacture Delivery of a Controlled Substance involving cocaine and methamphetamine, for which he received a five-year deferred probation sentence. The plea followed an arrest by Irving Police on January 27, 2023.
Albavera now faces multiple new charges, including Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 2, Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Valid Driver’s License, Evading Arrest or Detention, and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
