On the morning of December 20th, a Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) LEEP Unit enlisted the help of the Fort Worth Fire Department to rescue a horse trapped in a cattle guard at Alta Vista & Birch. Deputies sedated the horse for safety, while Rescue 38’s crew cut and spread the cattle guard to free the horse's three trapped legs.

After 45 minutes, the horse was freed, and a skid steer was used to move the animal to the side of the road. Once the horse was standing, it was loaded into a TCSO trailer and transported to a local vet for further examination. The horse sustained only minor cuts and scrapes and is expected to recover fully.
