The City of Arlington has provided the latest updates for the Texas Department of Transportation's Southeast Connector Project, a $2.1 billion effort aimed at improving traffic flow, safety, and efficiency by rebuilding and widening key sections of I-20, I-820, and US 287. This extensive project, which spans approximately 16 miles, is expected to be completed by 2027 and will enhance connectivity between the east, southeast, and central parts of Tarrant County.
The City has shared detailed closure schedules affecting various main lanes and ramps on December 15. Motorists are reminded to plan ahead, as weather and construction schedules may alter the closures.
Closures and Lane Reductions Scheduled for December 15
US 287 Southbound
- Interchange Ramp Closure: The westbound I-20 ramp to southbound US 287 will be closed during daytime hours on December 15.
- Entrance Ramp Closure: The southbound US 287 entrance ramp from Little Road will be closed during daytime hours on December 15.
- Lane Reduction: Southbound US 287 will be reduced to one lane between Little Road and Sublett Road during the day.
I-820 Southbound

- The entrance ramp to southbound I-820 from Lancaster Avenue and Rosedale Street will be closed overnight on December 15.
- The southbound I-820 ramp to westbound I-20 will also be closed overnight.
- The entrance ramp to southbound I-820 from Sun Valley Drive will be closed overnight.

- The right lane on southbound I-820 will be closed overnight between Lancaster Avenue and Ramey Avenue.
- The left lane on southbound I-820 at Wilbarger Street will be closed during daytime hours on December 15.
Interstate 20 Westbound

- The right lane on westbound I-20 at the I-820 interchange will be closed overnight on December 15.

- The exit ramp from westbound I-20 to Anglin Drive will be closed overnight.
- The entrance ramp from Business 287 to westbound I-20 will also be closed overnight.
Project Overview and Safety Notice
The Southeast Connector Project, designed to alleviate congestion and enhance safety, will rebuild key sections of:
- I-20 from Forest Hill Drive to Little Road,
- I-820 from I-20 to Brentwood Stair Road, and
- US 287 from Bishop Street to Sublett Road.
With construction activity increasing in the corridor, speed limits have been reduced to 55 mph for the safety of workers and motorists.
