On December 16, 2024, at approximately 12:41 a.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper responded to a single-vehicle crash on the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway near Keller Springs Road. During the investigation, the Trooper was struck by a vehicle.
The Trooper was transported to Plano Presbyterian Hospital and remains in critical condition. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
The initial crash involved a Toyota Camry, and the driver of the Camry was uninjured.
A fire truck was blocking the left two lanes where the single-vehicle crash occurred. A Mini Cooper then maneuvered around the fire truck, crashed into a wall, and struck both the Trooper and a security officer who was assisting. A good Samaritan, who was at the scene, was also hit and transported to the hospital. Their condition remains unknown at this time.
As a result of the incident, all northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway were closed for the investigation.
