The Plano Police Department took swift action in a proactive patrol operation early Tuesday morning, December 10, 2024, arresting three separate intoxicated drivers within a 10-minute span, between 1:20 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. This marks the latest in a series of arrests, with 18 dangerously intoxicated drivers arrested since December 1st.
As December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month, the department is emphasizing the increased risks on roadways during the holiday season. "While the holidays are a time for celebration, it is also one of the most dangerous times for impaired driving," said the Plano Police Department in a statement.
Officers are reminding the public that if they plan to drink, smoke, or use any substances that may impair their abilities, they should arrange for a sober ride in advance. The department is committed to preventing tragedies, ensuring that no one has to experience an empty seat at the table due to impaired driving.
In addition to regular patrols, Plano PD will assign extra officers to target impaired drivers from December 13th through January 1st, making sure the holiday season remains safe for all residents.
