On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at approximately 9:43 a.m., officers responded to a reported shooting in the 1100 block of W. Veterans Memorial Blvd.
Upon arrival, officers found a 66-year-old woman and a 76-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers performed lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived.
The woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 9:59 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson, who ordered an autopsy to be conducted at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
The male victim was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Authorities have confirmed there is no threat to the community related to this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
