On October 28, 2024, at approximately 11:00 PM, Irving Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 2900 block of N. Britain Rd in North Irving. The incident resulted in the arrest of Jacqueline Torres, 27, who is accused of assaulting two women—48-year-old Carmen Santibanez and a 71-year-old woman—during the altercation.
According to the police affidavit, Torres, who had a dating relationship with Santibanez and was a member of the household, threatened Santibanez with a knife and physically assaulted her. The affidavit states Torres abducted Santibanez by restraining her, moving her to another location, and holding her in a place where she was unlikely to be found. During this act, Torres reportedly exhibited a knife as a deadly weapon.
The situation escalated when Santibanez attempted to call 911. Torres allegedly seized the phone, preventing the emergency call, and unlawfully confined both women inside the home. Emergency medical personnel treated the victims at the scene for their injuries.
Torres was initially charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Interference with an Emergency Request for Assistance, and Unlawful Restraint: Expose to Significant Bodily Injury. Following the investigation, an additional charge of Aggravated Kidnapping was filed.
Currently held at the Dallas County Jail on an $80,000 bond, Torres remains incarcerated as of November 8, 2024.
