The Rhome Police Department has announced that starting Monday, September 30, law enforcement dispatch services for the Rhome and Boyd Police Departments will be handled by the Decatur Police Department. Both non-emergency calls and 9-1-1 services will now be routed through Decatur, where dispatchers will send responding officers to calls in the area.
This transition follows negotiations with the Wise County Sheriff's Office and the Decatur Police Department aimed at establishing a long-term, cost-effective dispatch service. The Rhome Police Department expressed gratitude to the Wise County Sheriff's Office for their many years of service and looks forward to the new partnership with Decatur PD.
Residents are reminded that in case of an emergency in Rhome or Aurora, they should continue to call 9-1-1. For non-emergency situations, beginning Monday, the new non-emergency contact number will be 940-393-0300.
